Fitz is saying some goalies will just hold the ball to stall play. If that happens warnings can be given, then timeouts used and a delay of game penalty after that. What happened in your game sounds correct. If the ball doesn't pass the line in 5 seconds the play is blown down and possession is changed.

All this concern about wasting time by goalies and d after a save yet runners regularly hold the ball in a corner to waste time and penalties are never mentioned as an option.

I have no problems with the new rules so long as I can at least make sure my posts are where they should be.

I would also appreciate if the refs check with the goalies before dropping the ball on the faceoff. This usually happens but for the three games I've played so far it has been lacking.

I'm happy to be back playing, just too many goals last week (from the goalies perspective anyway).
